Publications written by people in the field for people in the field are often called trade publications. These are generally not peer-review journals.

Identifying Materials

Search MUSCAT Plus

MUSCAT Plus is Musselman Lilbrary's online catalog. In addition to the keywords you identify, consider searching the phrase "Juvenile fiction" or "LT1000" to children's books in our collection.

Most of the children's books will be found on the 3rd level in the LT1000 section.

  • Coretta Scott King Book Awards
    • "Given annually to outstanding African American authors and illustrators of books for children and young adults that demonstrate an appreciation of African American culture and universal human values.   • Pura Belpré Award
    • "This award is named after Pura Belpré, the first Latina librarian at the New York Public Library.   • Mildred L. Batchelder Award
