Kurt Kaltreider, Class of 1965, made it his mission to collect books related to Native American culture, written by, for, and about indigenous peoples. Part of the Nanticoke people himself, Kaltreider then donated this collection of over 700 books to Special Collections for all students to better educate themselves on the various indigenous cultures around the world.
All books in the Kaltreider Collection have the bookplate "Gift from the Estate of Kurt Kaltreider, Class of 1965, A We Yunkcha Sne of the Nanticoke" and are labeled under the "Gettysburg College - Kaltreider Collection" series on MUSCAT Plus.
