Understanding Database Accessibility

Musselman Library subscribes to a variety of third-party databases which have varying levels of accessibility built in. Several groups, including the Library Accessibility Alliance and the Library eResources Accessibility Portal (LEAP), audit databases and create evaluations. These are linked below and can serve as a guide to understanding which databases meet your or your students' access needs.

Read Aloud in Databases

Many EBSCO and Gale databases provide a read aloud option and download to mp3 feature for full-text articles available in HTML format.

Select the HTML Full Text link.

  • Click on the orange play icon (located under the article's title) to start the audio.
  •  Many databases allow you to select the audio accent from the drop down menu box.
  • Click the download icon to download an mp3 file of the audio.
